The Art of Beekeeping (In Northern Climates) – Instructor: JoAnne Sabin, beekeeper and a member of the Minnesota Hobby Beekeepers Association (MHBA).
This 9 hour course will describe everything you need to know to keep honey bees for your first 2 years, including:
• Basics of bee biology and behavior
• Equipment and bee purchase, ideal apiary location and new colony install
• How to care for your bees throughout the year, including:
o Inspections Spring through Fall
o Spotting and responding to problems
o Diseases and pests
o Preventing swarms
o Queen problems
o Feeding
o Winter Preparation
o Honey Harvest
o Managing 2nd year colonies
The Course is offered in the following locations and dates:
Dakota County Parks, Lebanon Hills Visitor Center

Feb 9th, 16th, 23rd (Thursdays) from 6pm-9pm – Must attend all three dates.
